Over the last couple of weeks long standing and newer players alike have had a very specific issue with Destiny developer, Bungie. That issue is the weekend exclusive vendor Xur has not been carrying his, and arguably the games, most precious commodity, Three of Coins.
Last week, which was the first time in a very long time that the Three of Coins hadn’t appeared in Xur’s inventory, it was thought to be a simple system glitch. It was believed that the glitch had been caused by the introduction of the x10 stack of Heavy Ammo Synthesis.
It was thought that Xur having limited inventory slots and carrying both a x3 & x10 option of Heavy Synths had simply forced out the Three of Coins from his available curios. That was the general consensus….until this week.
Today Xur arrived and most, if not all, Destiny fans expected order to be restored and for the Agent of the Nine to be once again carrying the infamous Three of Coins. That was not to be the case, once again Xur is carrying the two different Heavy Synth options and no Three of Coins.
However, unlike last week Bungie this week aimed to offer some clarity on the situation. In an “Emerging Issues” post (full post here) that was updated December 30th the Xur problem was addressed, as can seen below:
Three of Coins from Xûr
Xûr will not be selling Three of Coins for the weekend of 12/30 – 1/1. His Curios may vary on a weekly basis for the foreseeable future, due to a limitation of the size of his Curio Inventory space.
This seems to imply that from this point on Xur is going to carry a rotating inventory and will not always carry Three of Coins. With the potential to leave a sour taste in the mouth of long term and new players alike this is a bold move by Bungie, and not one that necessarily makes sense.
All things considered it has led a lot of players to believe that this is just a spin Bungie are trying to put on the situation while they try to fix the real issue preventing Xur offering up the most sacred of Coins. Of course that’s pure speculation but nothing is beyond the realms of possibility when it comes to Destiny.
