It has been a little while since we have heard anything from the guys at Deep Silver about Dead Island 2 and the most recent news that we have had hasn’t been particularly encouraging. |The original development team were kicked off the project and were then replaced by Sumo Digital. Since then we have been more likely to see tumbleweed than hear anything about Dead Island 2.
Well that seems to have changed a little bit now. Koch Media CEO Klemens Kundratitz has been talking about the franchise and he sounds more positive than many about where it lies now and its future. “Dead Island is a very key IP for us. It put us on the map in the first place,” he said. “We have big plans for the franchise with several projects in development. Dead Island 2 is obviously announced and is making fantastic progress at Sumo. We’re looking forward to showing off the game to our fans when it is ready.”What this actually means is anyone’s guess and the phrase “when it’s ready” gives us absolutely no indication of when we could get a look at what Sumo Digital is working on. But at least its something and it also means that the one thing we do know is that the franchise is in no way dead.
So it looks like this game about zombies as become something of a zombie itself and is now back from the dead. There are no more details that we can share with you at the moment but don’t worry, as soon as we hear anything we will let you know.
