In a recent interview with the man behind the world of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Todd Howard, we got some great insight on how the company came together to make such a masterpiece. Howard also elaborated on hitting 30 million in total sales since it’s launch 5 years ago.
When it comes to being put in that top tier of games such as GTA or Call of Duty, Howard had this to say:
Each of our games has found a larger and larger audience, which we never take for granted. A lot of us have worked together for 10, 15, 20 years – in many respects, making the same game. Skyrim was kind of this tipping point. It seemed to hit an audience that we had never had before. It didn’t change us. But it did make us aware that some of the things we do speak to people who don’t traditionally play games, or don’t traditionally play role-playing games. They make it their own experience, and that was what was most important to us. Putting somebody in a world where they can do what they want. I think that’s what’s special about video games as entertainment.
Howard goes on as well to talk about mods he wanted or should have done as well as the future of design for Bethesda. You read the full interview here! It’s amazing to see a company with so much success that is also so humble as well. Skyrim Remastered is selling well and the hardcore fan base the game has continues to support and show the love it deserves.
