Battlefield 1 Conquers the Charts and Xbox Beats PlayStation
It was always going to happen, wasn’t it? Because it’s Battlefield 1.
EA and DICE’s WWI shooter has been declared as the best selling video game of October – that’s not bad going, considering the game dropped on October 21st.
Here’s how the October charts look – see anything surprising?
- Battlefield 1
- Mafia 3
- Gears of War 4
- FIFA 17
- NBA 2K17
- The Elder Scrolls 5: Skyrim
- WWE 2K17
- Civilization 6
- Titanfall 2
- Madden NFL 17
These don’t include digital sales, but check out Xbox/W10 exclusive Gears of War 4 hitting such a high point in the charts, and beating out several multi-platform titles. That indicates that the game has had seriously strong sales (like, seriously).
Elsewhere, Xbox as the US’s best-selling console – although expect to see that change during the November charts, which will include the PS4 Pro. The Xbox has seen 8% growth in sales compared to last year, which shouldn’t surprise anyone given how hard and fast Microsoft have been slashing prices.
And overall, the games industry has seen spending of $875.5 million. While hardware sales are 20% down on last year (‘cause consoles are so much cheaper these days) and there’s been a 24% drop in accessories, it’s software sales that are dominating: There’s been a 31% increase in game sales since last year, raking in a cool $505.7 million.
Does Battlefield 1 deserve its place at the top of the pile? Or would you have given it to another game?
