Cuphead is a game that seems to stuck in an extremely unfortunate cycle of release date window announcements followed by an eventual delay of that release date.
Inevitably that cycle has come full circle once more. Late yesterday StudioMDHR announced that Cuphead, originally due for release in 2015, has again been delayed. The title which the developer’s had hoped would see the light of day in late 2016 has now been pushed back to mi d-2017, the news came in the form of a blog post, some of which can be seen below.
Throughout this year we discussed reducing the scope to make a 2016 release, but we made the difficult decision to delay the launch in order to ship with our vision intact. We are happy to announce that Cuphead will be coming to Xbox One, Windows 10 and Steam in Mid-2017.
While many people are excited by the prospect of Cuphead, it’s unfortunate that its development process has been hindered so much. Fortunately, for those eagerly awaiting Cuphead’s seemingly non-existent release, this should mean the team at StudioMDHR have all the time and resources they need to provide a truly excellent end product.
Are you one of the many looking forward to Cuphead? Do you think the delays will be worth the pay off? Or are you getting frustrated with the constant delays? Let us know in the comments!
