Achievements. Don’t you just love them? Often imitated, never bettered (we’re looking at you, Trophies) they have been a major element of the Xbox experience since the very first days of the Xbox 360 back in 2005. For many of us, the iconic “Acheievement Unlocked” beep triggers many happy childhood memories every time we hear it.
Microsoft announced the first real change to Achievement notifications last week, with the Rare Achievement notification.
If you’re struggling to hear that sound poop for you, here’s a tip: dust off that Halo: The Master Chief Collection disc and get basting. According to stat tracking experts True Achievements, Halo: The Master Chief Collection has an unusually high proportion of Rare Achievements (reminder: this is an achievement that’s been unlocked by only a small percentage of those who’ve played that game).
A quick scroll through the True Achievements list for Halo: MCC shows the telltale blue jewel icon against a huge number of achievements (we lost count at 200 Rare Achievements amongst the 600 on offer).
Of course if you’ve played Halo: MCC you’re abound to have unlocked some of these already, but there will be many more you’ll need to expend a little extra effort on. If you want an easy one though, we’re recommend “Before and After” which simply requires you to complete every level of Halo: CE having seen it in both classic and remastered mode. This is even easier if you have already completed the campaign – just jump into each level and turn and switch from remastered mode to original, and back again.
Has the Rare Achievement notification popped for you, yet? Let us know in the comments!
