Windows Store Loophole Creates Heaven for Trolls

Alfred Pennyworth said it best in The Dark Knight: “Some men just want to watch the world burn…”

The Windows 10 store, including the Xbox One side of things, was recently given the ability to write reviews for different products on the store, pretty much like how Steam or Amazon conducts user reviews. Whilst a useful system in theory, it is actually being used by trolls to both increase and decrease the ratings of upcoming games.

The loophole in question allows people to review upcoming games despite having never played them. The rule as it stands only requires you to have purchased the content before you can start writing, so a pre-order counts in this situation. Quite why someone would pay to pre-order a game just to write negative reviews about it is beyond me, but troll logic moves in mysterious ways.

Have you noticed any games or products on the store given a rating that you’d deem ill-fitting? How would you like Microsoft to rectify this issue? Let us know in the comments below!
