VLC Media Player for Xbox One Submitted for Certification

VLC has been among one of the most versatile and user friendly media players to use on Windows PC’s.  Xbox One may be next to receive VLC as it has now is UWP and has been placed on the Windows Store.

The announcement was made by VLC’s developer Hugo Beauzée-Luyssen on Twitter yesterday.

The UWP version of VLC notably supports UPnP and network shares browsing, support for HTTPS and adaptive streaming, hardware decoding, and numerous codecs, making it the ideal client for a big-screen device such as the Xbox One connected to your flat screen.

We are really excited as this will add a ton of playback options for Xbox One as a full media center.  What about you?  Are you excited to have VLC on your Xbox One?

I bet you the Xbox One version wont support DTS Audio, if so then it will be just as useless as the Media Player app.
