Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Beta Release Date Revealed?

So do we now know when the Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare beta will be released on Xbox One? The full game, which has had mixed responses to its sci-fi setting, is released on 4th November – but it seems Microsoft has let slip when the beta drops.

According to Charlie Intel, on the Microsoft Store‘s Call of Duty page there was, very briefly, a notice declaring the open beta’s release. Get ready for it – the message claimed that:

Beta starts October 21, 2016 on Xbox One. Availability and launch date(s) subject to change. See for more details. Minimum Beta duration is 3 days.

If it wasn’t a typo, expect to see the beta on 21st October 2016. That date would also jive with plans to offer PlayStation gamers the beta one week beforehand, on the 14th. And FPS fans are sure to spot something very familiar about that date… It’s when Battlefield 1 is released.

That means COD‘s open beta may be more of a demo for marketing purposes, used in the same way Overwatch timed its beta to steal Battleborn‘s thunder, rather than to stress test the servers.

Either way, we’ll be watching this as it develops, but since it came directly from Microsoft, there’s a good chance this is happening on 21st October.
