Xbox One now counts towards your Win 10 Device Limit
If you’ve bought heavily into the Windows 10 ecosystem, this latest change might give you brief pause. Xbox One consoles now count towards your Windows 10 device limit.
You can install any Apps or Games you purchase from the Windows 10 store on up to 10 devices – and with the availability of Universal Windows Platform (UWP) apps on Xbox One, that device limit will now include your Xbox One console.
This might be a problem for some – in fact I thought I would be close to the limit, with one Windows 10 desktop PC, three Windows 10 laptops, one Win 10 phone, two Win 10 tablets, and two Xbox Ones. My hope of adding an Xbox One S to the list would have put me bang-on ten.
In fact, though, from our investigations it looks as though only one Xbox One will ever appear in your device list, no matter how many you have – probably because you can only ever sign in to one Xbox One at a time. We’ve reached out to Microsoft to confirm that that’s the case.
If you want to check your device list, log in with your Microsoft Account at https://account.microsoft.com, go to Devices, and then select Apps and Games Devices.
