June’s Best Backwards Compatible Games

Xbox One Backwards Compatibility

Welcome back to Xbox One UK’s regular reflection; where we take a look at the list of Xbox 360 titles that became backwards compatible in the last month, and try to point out a couple of highlights.

While June might have lacked a certain star power when compared to May’s CoD: Black Ops and the recently added Red Dead Redemption for July, it certainly wasn’t a dull month. Especially if you like Valve. Let’s take a quick look.

Honourable Mentions

Dungeons & Dragons: Chronicles of Mystara – More of a personal choice here, due to my love for beat ‘em ups. With Chronicles of Mystara, you get two classic beat ‘em ups for the price of one; Tower of Doom and Shadow Over Mystara. With a slew of playable characters, different paths through the campaign and up to 4 player co-op either on the same screen or via Xbox Live, this is one brawler that’ll keep you coming back for more.

Fallout NV Banner

Fallout: New Vegas – A big win for the backwards compatibility program, Fallout: New Vegas represents the final Xbox One addition of the “modern” era of the franchise. Many fond memories of the adventures of The Courier were shared by gamers around the world. With DLC like Dead Money also being included, the fight for New Vegas can continue into a new generation.

Game of the Month

Portal 2 – Any Portal fans in the house? Who am I kidding? That’s practically half of the internet! The tale of Chell and GlaDos has become a legend within the gaming community, and this second installment was nothing short of brilliant. With Stephen Merchant as Wheatley and the always excellent J.K. Simmons as the hilarious Cave Johnson, Portal 2 offered more entertainment per minute than most games could ever manage. It just helped that Portal 2 was also offered some ingenious puzzles across its single player and co-op campaign. Perhaps it’s time to pay Aperture another visit…
