Major Nelson Going Down Under as PAX Aus 2016 Keynote Speaker

Xbox’s Director of Programming, Larry Hryb – best-known to gamers by his handle, Major Nelson – will deliver the opening keynote address at Penny Arcade’s PAX Aus 2016.

PAX is an annual event that’s been held all over the States; this is Australia’s first bite of the cherry, and to ensure it puts Melbourne on the map (as if it wasn’t there already), they’ve pulled in one of the biggest names in gaming.

Billed as ‘Storytime with Major Nelson’, Hryb will kick-start the three-day event that’s become a must-see for gamers. Running between 4th-6th November 2016 at the Melbourne Exhibition and Convention Centre, PAX Aus will feature expert panels, dedicated gaming areas, exhibitions and even concerts. Expect cosplayers aplenty too – because hey, Australia knows how to do conventions right.

According to Penny Arcade co-founder, Jerry Holkins:

As the embodiment of Xbox and Xbox Live, Major Nelson has seen it all. I will be there with everyone else when the show kicks off, ready to absorb his wisdom.

When it comes to making opening speeches at any PAX event, it’s a spot usually reserved for those with serious chops in the games industry. Previous keynote speakers include developer Warren Spector, of Deus Ex fame, and Bethesda’s Pete Hindes. So Major Nelson is certainly in good company.

Hryb’s always been a great entertainer, and his PAX Aus 2016 keynote address will definitely be one to watch.
