Resident Evil 7 is No Reboot, Says Game’s Director

Resident Evil 7 certainly caught the attention of gamers when it was revealed during E3 2016, not least because, with its first-person POV, it’s so utterly different from anything we’ve seen in the series before (and we’re not counting those FPS spin-offs with their emphasis on hot lead over horror). And according to a Capcom Unity interview with the game’s director, Kōshi Nakanishi, and producer, Masachika Kawata, the game’s not a reboot, but a return the series’ horror roots. During the interview, Nakanishi stated that: It’s not a reboot and we’re not throwing away the series’ canonical storyline. It’s the … Read More »

There’s a lot of games out there for our beloved Xbox One. I don’t know about you, but I have always loved the Indie games that come our way. Of course, that’s why the ID@XBOX programme is so important, and we want to recognise the efforts of ID@XBOX developers who so often go unrecognised. So, for the month of June, we have chosen our ID@XBOX game of … Read More »

Heart & Slash Review

Heart & Slash, the Kickstarter-funded 3D brawler/roguelike from developer aheartfulofgames, has a charm and challenge all of its own. Usually we’re cautious about Kickstarter games, since few have ever built on the crowd-funded hype – and plenty more fall by the wayside before ever getting a release. And we’re even more cautious about modern games that ape the 8- and 16-bit era of gaming. You know – the sort of game that trades on its pseudo-retro pixel block graphics and simple gameplay. Either they’re absolute gems, like Braid, or they’re lazy versions of Megaman or Mario that are content to … Read More »

Overwatch’s Torbjon Is About To Get ‘Nerfed’

Torbjorn will be getting a bit of a downgrade soon –  well his turrets will be at least. According to game director Jeff Kaplan in a recent Reddit thread- In an upcoming patch, we will reduce the damage done by Torbjörn’s turret by 30% on Xbox One. This upcoming patch will reduce the character’s effectiveness substantially, how much of an impact will this actually have on Torbjorn in game? Torbjorn is generally classed as a defense-focused character – although used in the right way in the right game he can be a powerful attacking force. His turret deployment is a massive part … Read More »
