ID@XBOX Game Of The Month – June 2016
There’s a lot of games out there for our beloved Xbox One. I don’t know about you, but I have always loved the Indie games that come our way. They offer such variety and always come up with ideas that haven’t been seen before; everything from playing as a goat, all the way to building bridges – everything is covered by the Independent Developers.
Of course, that’s why the ID@XBOX programme is so important, and we want to recognise the efforts of ID@XBOX developers who so often go unrecognised. So, for the month of June, we have chosen our ID@XBOX game of the month – drum roll please! The winner is the excellent TurnOn from Brainy Studio LLC.
It clocked up a very impressive 8 out of 10 from our reviewers and it’s easy to see why, this title offers a new and imaginative take on gameplay (if you missed the review, it’s well worth a read). The whole city has been plunged into darkness. After an accident at the power station, a living electric spark must restore electricity to the city and give citizens back their safe and carefree lives. TurnOn tells the spellbinding tale of a brave alien creature and its striking journey through blackout world, in an incredibly colorful and detailed platformer without platforms. Featuring a charming art style and visual storytelling, cute character personality, and a soothing and magical soundtrack, TurnOn makes the world the way it was before, but a little better and kinder.
So who are Brainy Studios LLC and what is it they do, how about we find out?
Brainy Studios LLC was founded in Russia back in January 2013 by students of Perm National Research Polytechnic University: web-developer Evgenii Romin, programmer Anton Baranov and digital artist Ilya Antonov. In this same year they launched their first game WitchCraft on Windows Phone, which finished second at the Imagine Cup Russia Finals in Moscow.
In the summer of 2014 Brainy Studios LLC won in the “Games” category of Imagine Cup International Finals with a prototype of the game TurnOn, and won the right to go to the AppCampus acceleration program, organized jointly by Microsoft and Nokia in the Finnish University of Aalto. The company Unity-developer Alexander Frolov left in summer of 2015 and marketeer Dmitri Ogorodnikov was the replacement.
If you fancy looking into Brainy Studios LLC a little bit more, their website is jam packed with everything you would want to know.
Please all join me in congratulating the winners of the June ID@XBOX game of the month TurnOn and the developers Brainy Studios LLC.
Check out the trailer below and if it is something you fancy a go at, TurnOn is available from the Xbox Store for a very respectable £11.99.
