Halo Wars 2 is slated for a February 2017 launch, and Microsoft has confirmed there will be another Beta opportunity close to this date.
While last week’s Beta was for Xbox One owners only, this new Beta will give Windows 10 players a chance to get in on the action too – Halo Wars 2 is already confirmed as an Xbox Play Anywhere title. Buying the title digitally on either platform will net you the game on both. Quick reminder – this is cross-buy, not cross play – it’s already been confirmed that Halo Wars 2 won’t support cross-platform play.
Microsoft has also confirmed that in addition to the two modes features in last week’s Beta – domination and deathmatch – there will be a third, as-yet unrevealed, mode.
Our take: We enjoyed last week’s Beta immensely – we’re Halo fans, after all – and this franchise continues to prove that RTS as a genre can work on consoles. If the sequel can avoid the cliff-edge difficulty spikes that marred the original, Xbox could well have an RTS winner on its hands.
Thanks to GameSpot for the heads up.
