May’s Best Backwards Compatible Games

Welcome to a new feature for Xbox One UK, where we take a look at the list of titles that became backwards compatible in the last month and point out a couple of highlights.

The month of May had a number of notable additions to the line up, with one causing more headlines than most. Trust me, we’ll get to that one, but let’s look at a few honourable mentions:

Turn based games

XCOM: Enemy Unknown – Sure, it’s going free in a matter of weeks, but anyone who already has the game can try and save our planet from the invaders. The keyword there is try. XCOM will punish you into submission with no remorse. No mercy… A fun time for all the family, we’re sure you’ll agree.

SSX – The Xbox One could do with a few more snowboarding games, maybe even another SSX instalment, but for now, this’ll do nicely. Seriously though EA. New SSX. Pull your finger out. We want some new mountains to shred on!

Sonic And Knuckles

Sonic & Knuckles – We already had Sonic 1, 2, 3 and Sonic CD turn up on backwards compatibility, it was only a matter of time before the sequel to Sonic 3 showed up. Let the nostalgia trip begin!

Final Fight: Double Impact – We need more Mike Haggar on the Xbox One. Piledriving Mad Gear thugs on the streets of Metro City never gets old. Never. Rescuing Haggar’s daughter is secondary to suplexing goons all day.

Whilst these have been notable editions, we all know what the Game of the Month was:

Call of Duty: Black Ops – It was pretty obvious, wasn’t it? The game you all demanded, the game you all needed has been made available, hacked lobbies and all. Yeah, you might have got what you asked for, but really, did you get what you wanted?

And that’s the highlights. Check back next month for the June highlights and be sure to sound off in the comments below about the backwards compatible games you’ve enjoyed this month.
