Gearbox Developing A New Borderlands Game?
Gearbox has officially confirmed at a PAX East panel that it will be developing its third Borderlands game (the Pre-Sequel was created by 2K Australia) after it is finished with current project Battleborn and the subsequent DLC.
“It’s no secret, obviously there’s going to be another Borderlands” Gearbox CEO and president Randy Pitchford said, he went on to add “We don’t even know if we’re going to call it that. We could call it Borderlands 4 for all we know” (let’s be honest, that title would surprise no one).
Battleborn art director Scott Kester said he will be the art director on Borderlands 3.
Gearbox chief creative champion Mikey Neumann will be penning the story for the game. Neaumann is perhaps best known as the fan favourite mechanic Scooter.
On the subject of Scooter, could the next game in the series see the introduction of his offspring? Affectionately named Scooper. Neumann certainly hopes so: “I did this whole Scooter thing, then I pitch-shifted it up like seven semitones so it sounds like a chipmunk and it was the funniest thing I’d ever heard,”
Let’s be honest if someone who is associated with a franchise as zany and out there as Borderlands finds something that funny surely it has to be included in the final product?
