The Division Game Files Reveal Possible Features
There is just over a week until the release of Tom Clancy’s The Division, a 3rd person cover based shooter where you are an agent of The Division. You have been activated and sent to Manhattan to save what remains of civilization after the devastating pandemic. Teaming up with other Division agents, your mission is to restore order, investigate the source of the virus, and take back New York.
Yesterday a Reddit user named ChristianRiesen claimed to have delved into the game files and among the translations found something.
There are mentions of different kinds of actions, one of which is to do with network nodes all over a park and that you have to get, also mentions of the same area and of something concerning controlling zones and supply caches. All is phrased as it being a team based objective. See the full details from the Reddit user below –
So going a bit deeper into the game files, I found among the translations something curious.
There is mention of different kinds of actions. One speaks of network nodes all over a park and that you have to get them. The way it’s phrased though is like there is an enemy team. Going deeper there is also mention in the same area of something concerning controlling zones and supply caches. The text goes to say things like your team is winning, and only 30 seconds left. It also mentions “the enemy has the upper hand”, which points towards an adversarial mode.
Now take all of this with a grain of salt. This is part of the translations of the subtitles, which means it could have been in the game at one point and then was removed. Or it’s something yet to come (in the full game or DLC). Either way, interesting enough to share.
Edit: Also found this, which corresponds to other strings I found with the ones above: “Kill LMB soldiers and deliver their dog tags to Riker territory”. Though I would say that is more likely a left over.
These could be features that are possibly coming to the game in the future, part of the season pass or a past thought that has been trashed during development. The official Division website did say back in January –
The development team is working on a complete post-launch plan to keep the experience fresh for the months to come, including several free updates, new features and functionality.
The free updates to be released for all players will add new game modes such as challenging group-oriented operations to test players’ abilities in co-op mode and win unique rewards.
Could this be one of those group-orientated operations they were on about? I guess we will have to wait and see…..
