GTA Is there a possible story DLC for the Rockstar masterpiece?

Shawn Fonteno, the actor who portrayed Franklin in Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto V, has set the Internet ablaze by posting a picture of himself on Instagram. Hardly cause for speculation, until you notice he is wearing a motion capture suit, and is seated in what appears to be a Rockstar office.

Fonteno – who portrayed gangster protégé Franklin through motion capture as well as voicing the character – posted the image on his personal Instagram on 12 January, with the caption ‘LOL’. This has been enough to send the Internet into meltdown over possible story DLC for the Rockstar masterpiece. Fans and news sites alike have been caught up in the speculation.

It’s no secret that Rockstar have been concentrating on developing and supporting Grand Theft Auto Online, leaving single-player-story fans bereft of new content – a real shame as the two story DLC installments for previous game GTAIV (The Lost and The Damned, and The Ballad of Gay Tony) were huge successes, both commercially and critically.

As excited as we are here at to learn that there might be new adventures for Franklin et al, we are still cautions. Rockstar are notoriously silent on such matters, and there’s nothing in the image that guarantees that it’s a recent picture. Fonteno is pictured lounging in front of a framed Grand Theft Auto IV poster, flanked by posters for Max Payne and LA Noire – not exactly recent games.

There are precious few other clues in the image – although his face is in shade Fonteno appears to be sporting a fetching Van Dyk or Balbo (facial hair styles comprising of a moustache and beard that don’t join up, beard lovers!) in contrast to other recent images in which he appears clean shaven. However, as far as we can tell this image hadn’t appeared anywhere online until Fonteno shared it yesterday.

Could Fonteno be hinting that new DLC is actively in the works? Or is he just trolling a fan base desperate for new story lines? Only time will tell. What do you think? Let us know in the comments!

Amazingly, prone to intermittent fits of unexplained optimism. Lived alone and liked it so much he bought the company. Wouldn't mind being a little less clever and a little more handsome. Dislikes: Rain, people, arranging words into painstakingly grammatically correct order. #ILHIMH
