BC Mulitplayer Games Requires 360 Friends

This might seem like an easy fix to some but for others, especially new comers to Xbox, you may have a few issues playing multiplayer on backwards compatible games with friends unless you’re friends with them on 360.

Don’t worry if this is you, there is a couple of easy fixes to get you buddied up ASAP:

  1. Pull up the guide while on the 360 games you wish to play and add each other (simples)
  2. You can always use the Xbox 360 smart glass app to become friends, wahlaaa!

Alot of users on Reddit have been discussing the reasons behind why you have to add someone off the 360 in order to play with them on the BC Xbox One, it’s probably all down to the UI and the way in which they both work. If you know the exact answer to this please drop a comment below, we would love to know.

I believe its because there are two different servers using the same users. Technically without a 360, you are only registered as a one user, meaning that you only have those sorts of friends. When you have a 360, it’s another server in its entirety. It’s a bit confusing to both explain and comprehend what I’m saying, but the fact is that it seems like there are two different servers for each console that deal with different protocols such as the friend list. As you’ve probably already noticed people that are friends on Xbox One are not on 360 and vice versa, unless you had a 360 with friends and bought an xbox one. Your profile is then uploaded from the 360 server to the X1 server with all of your info intact. Idk if it’s the same way vice versa, but I do know that’s how it works. Once its uploaded, you have to manually add your friends on both consoles. Kind of a dumb thing to do, but I suppose it’s hard getting both of the servers to connect that way.

left you a pretty long reply. I’m pretty sure that’s why it requires you to manually add a friend on both consoles

Thanks Nexus, it makes sense that both console info would be on 2 different servers and that’s why you have to manually add friends.

Not true u don’t have to be friends on 360 just in a party through the 360 guide as the bc game won’t pick up the people in your xbox one party
