ARK – v729.9 Initial Patch Notes

ARK: Survival Evolved

It just keeps getting better and better

Unless you have been living under a rock, you will have heard about ‘ARK: Survival Evolved’ – the Jurassic survival smash hit game. Just to make this game even better, here are the patch notes for v729.9 – the patch isn’t out just yet so more notes may be added, let’s see what the first batch of details contain:

  • Fixed an issue where many Player-Hosted sessions were not joinable
  •  “Full” Servers are now listed! Also increased server list size to 250 so that ALL Official Servers are listed (100-server search limit causing some servers to not appear)
  • Server Bookmarks now save
  • Server Bookmarks are automatically added for any servers that you join
  • Session List Ping should work properly now
  • LB+Start now opens Tribe Chat
  • Plugging in a controller no longer signs you out of your gameplay
  • Hidden Engrams are no longer displayed on client
  • Server Broadcast messages now respect player communication privilege
  • There is now a Player Actions Wheel option to Apply/Remove Map Pins
  • Player Actions Wheel now only shows the Poop option if you can Poop
  • You can now Press Start in the Inventory of an activateable structure to toggle its active state
  •  Improved Structure destruction vfx
  • Fixed issue where you couldn’t interact with some nearby Dinos / Access Inventories in Singleplayer / when Hosting
  • Fixed a singleplayer crash that could occur randomly when moving through the world
  • Doubled the Slider Ranges on the ‘Host Game’ UI (in a future patch will uncap it with editboxes ala PC)

Ark

Solid start by ARK to address the issues that always pop up in any games teething stage, good to know they are aware and are on the case.

How are you finding ARK: Survival Evolved so far, is it what you hoped it would be or are you still not too sure – I’d love to know your thoughts in the comments.

Absolutely loving it! Didn’t think it would be my thing, but its fab! Especially on single player where I played for four hours last night with no objectives other than to just survive! Its raw, edgy & totally engrossing. Realistic too! I needed to wait for daylight to chop down wood (didn’t want to venture too far from campfire) and like real life waiting took much longer when you don’t need it too! Will give pvp a go when I know more of what I’m doing! Patches seem sound & obvious, there are things I’m experiencing and would like to see improvement on that I’ll mail separately ?

This game Is amazing and it’s not even a finished game. For the size of it and the amount in it, it has less problems than most full games released these days. You can (and will) get frustrated with the offline looting and raiders and having to find Friends until you tribe up but it gets easier when you get stronger. 10/10 from me so far even though my server is down and it’s the only one down haha itching to play again big time.

I love this game but my baby dinos die too quickly. You have to chase the little blighters around and press Y to imprint on them(name them) but as you’re trying to quit that to feed them, they keel over. Definitely needs a patch to stop them doing that so you can at least get into their inventory to feed. Also I would like different days or events when certain dinos are slightly more common so you can witness a migration (and possibly a chance of taming)the dinos which are rare as rocking horse dung to find.

The snow biomes are relentless and the only source of pelts for fur armour. I keep freezing to death in an attempt to get said pelts. It’s tough.
