Star Wars: Battlefront – Free DLC

Battle Of Jakku introduces a brand new mode and two new maps

It doesn’t matter if you’re as epic as a Jedi or suck as bad as a Storm Trooper shots, Star Wars: Battlefront is an amazing title and it’s about to get some extra content – best news is it’s free.

Battle Of Jakku will be touching down on 01/12/2015 for those who had the force and pre-ordered and on 08/12/2015 for those who were encased in carbonite and didn’t. So what can we expect from this DLC, let’s take a look at the goodies:

We will be taken to Jakku, a desert style planet which features in the upcoming film ‘Star Wars: The Force Awakens’, the difference here is the game’s timeline takes us here straight after the final battle from ‘Return Of The Jedi’.

The first new map is ‘Graveyard Of Giants’, this is the bigger map of the two so will be ideal for game modes such as Walker Assault. The second map is ‘The Goazan Badalands’, a complete opposite in size being smaller and better suited for gamer modes like Droid Run.

The brand new mode coming in is called Turning Point, here you will find the Rebels have the role of locating and obtaining three designated locations. If this is completed with success, new locations appear as you storm the Empire. Two vehicles feature here as well, the faithful Air Speeders and AT-ST’s. Oh one other thing, this is a 40 player game mode – stay safe out there and use the force.

Turning Point takes it’s place on the ‘Graveyard Of Giants’ map, here it’s not only enemies you need to watch out for. Deadly debris falling from the sky can cause you serious damage and keep well clear of the Super Star Destroyer, it makes an appearance in a rather explosive manner.

DICE’s lead level designer, Dennis Brännvall quotes:

At the edge of the map, the Empire has constructed a make-shift base as well as smaller fortifications strewn across the landscape. Rebels need to locate and capture one of three control points in Imperial control. The clock is ticking, but if the Rebel team succeeds with a capture additional time will be added and new control points will be available for capture. Moving through these increasingly challenging checkpoints, the ultimate goal is the Empire’s base where the final stand will take place.

Sounds pretty good don’t you think, no? Well Patrick Söderlund likes to add:

We are also planning to support Star Wars Battlefront with new content well into the future. We will be adding more of what you love about the game, like new maps and Star Cards, for free in the coming months, in addition to all of the content we have coming with Season Pass.
