Mad Catz Arcade FightStick Tournament Edition 2 Review
Fighting fans, you want to fight the proper classic way?, Well you’re in luck If you love playing fighting games on the Xbox One Mad Catz have released a fight stick called ‘Mad Catz Arcade FightStick Tournament Edition 2’ and it’s simply beautiful.
We all know Mad Catz is a company known for its gaming hardware such as Fight Sticks, Guitars, Controllers and many more but does the expensive FightStick Tournament Edition 2 live up the price tag? Let’s find out;
When grabbing the box and opening it for the first time I was really surprised how heavy the FightStick is, but the thing that did stand out the most is the way the FightStick looks it’s simply stunning, it features a simple red and black color scheme with the classic ball-top stick, one thing’s for sure if you go anywhere with this it will be sure to draw plenty of attention, that’s for sure.
After I took it out of the box along with the instructions as standard you also get a nifty tool for modifications, so by including such a tool it’s obvious Mad Catz intends for gamers to modify the fight stick. The instructions explains on how to modify but dont worry yourself too much with the instructions as its pretty easy anyway.
If you’re a fighting game fan you’ll know how important a proper fight stick is. The experience is much better then a normal controller and it makes them games like Mortal Kombat and many other fighting games that much more fun to play!, With the Mad Catz Arcade FightStick Tournament Edition 2 for Xbox One you can fight your way to the top of the leader-boards the very best way possible. Remember it’s just you and the fight stick against the others!. FIGHT!
Continuing the legacy of the original TE FightStick, this version builds premium, arcade-quality Sanwa Denshi parts into an arcade stick that’s ready for competition and as said above it’s perfect for customization to make it your very own unlike any other on the market.
This competition-ready FightStick uses high-quality Sanwa joystick and buttons and yes we’re on about the very same parts found in the Japanese arcade cabinets. The Sanwa JLF is the standard in tournament-grade FightSticks. The eight-button Vewlix-style layout offers a classic and ergonomic Japanese-styled feel while providing full access to an arsenal of moves. Sanwa OBSF-30 action buttons respond with pinpoint accuracy and can withstand repeated use.
Part from being beautifully designed and sleek looking it’s solid and this is no cheap plastic toy from the market.
Travel much? Well it’s perfect for moving around wherever you decide to take it, it comes with a removable ProCable which utilizes a unique design to screw into the back of the FightStick. Wired USB connectivity stifles threats of latency or drop-out during competitive play. Fully detachable, simply store the ProCable in the internal storage compartment when not in use and with it’s heavy metal base and durable foam padding what’s even better is the Non-slip foam padding coincides with where the controller rests on your legs during lap-mounted game-play. When the intensity increases the last thing you want to worry about is an uncomfortable gaming weapon.
Let’s finish the review of by talking a little more of the Customization because that’s a key fact on this hardware, One thing that is fantastic is that it opens up to allow access to inner storage and components as shown in the feature image above featuring dedicated storage compartments, By using the included screwdriver tool you can easily remove the bezel and clear top panel allowing easy customization for artwork. With a unique design featuring holes that go around the action buttons, finally you can swap in custom artwork without having to remove buttons or fumble with confusing wires thankfully.
Overall the fight stick is fantastic. It’s costly but you simply pay for the quality with this.
