Xbox One Apps List – Part 1

It’s quite clear to see that the Xbox has come a long way since the very first console was released way back in 2002, since then the 360 took our experience to new levels in 2005. Now here we are with the Xbox One that released in 2013, this beloved device is now so much more than just a games console. Microsoft has released this and there are apps to enhance our fun in various other areas, but what apps are out there and what do they do? Well, we here at Xbox One UK thought we would help you out by making a list of what they are and what they do. Let’s take a look and spread some ‘appyness’:

ABC News – This nifty app brings you breaking news streams, live coverage of events at home and worldwide and clips on what’s buzzing in Tech, Entertainment and much more.

Al Jazeera – Offering international news that places people right into the story, the firm belief here is that everyone has their own stories.

All 4

ALL 4 –  bringing you the best of Channel 4. Here you can catch up on a large selection of Channel 4, E4 and More4 shows from the past 30 days and watch some golden oldie programmes from 30 years of television that only Channel 4 can offer.


Amazon Instant Video – Amazon Prime Instant Video gives you unlimited access to Britain’s largest and newest subscription streaming service with over 15,000 Movies and TV shows to choose from. Watch Amazon Prime Instant Video anywhere and at anytime.


Arc – The Arc App is a place where players are kept up to date on important information regarding Neverwinter on Xbox One. It’s also the only place where players can redeem any promotional codes we give out.


Atari: Game Over – Here we find bonus material and media claims to the rather odd story of how Atari buried a shed load of E.T. cartridges in a New Mexico landfill site, in case you wondered – I don’t know why either.


BBC iPlayer – The last 30 days of BBC programmes at your fingertips, as well as BBC iPlayer exclusives. With awesome features like voice control, subtitles and the new Radio 1 video channel, BBC iPlayer on your Xbox One is just like normal TV – just with some nice added extras.


Blinkbox Movies – Here is the first of a few movie & TV streaming service but this one has ten times more latest blockbuster movies than Netflix & Lovefilm Instant. You can rent or buy the latest movies and TV shows instantly. The best thing here is there’s no subscription, it’s free to join and you only pay for what you watch.


BREAK – If you fancy a laugh, then this is the app for you. BREAK is the number one source for funny videos and pictures. Here you’ll find the best videos every day, now featuring FREE full-length movies for even more laughter.


CarbonTV – This is the ultimate in outdoor themed shows and personalities, CarbonTV is to place for all of this. Share the lives, the work and the mentality of people who simply thrive in the outdoors.


CBS Sports – With this app installed you can watch either videos on demand or live streams of CBS content. If you’re a fan of American Football, Baseball, Fantasy Basketball, Viral Videos and all sports related media then this is right up your street.

Channel 9 – A cool app that provides a way to view and browse videos on a massive choice of developing and consumer topics.

CinemaNow – You can have instant access to an extensive library of video content to either buy or rent. You can also watch newly released movies, TV shows and a whole host of other popular content with no subscription needed.


Crackle – Crackle delivers your favorite movies, hit TV series and the ‘can’t-miss’ original programs you won’t find anywhere else. Their network programming refreshes every day, so there’s always something new waiting to be watched.


Crunchyroll – Welcome to the official destination for the largest lineup of current and classic Anime. Watch hit shows like Naruto Shippuden, Sailor Moon and One Piece in 1080p HD on all your Xbox One.

Demand 5 – This free service that lets you catch up on the latest programmes from Channel 5, 5 USA and 5* – also this app gives you access to an archive of classic shows. All your favourites from Big Brother to The Gadget Show, films, Aussie soaps, US dramas plus over 1500 Milkshake! programmes.

Discover Languages –  Rosetta Stone’s new application teaches English and Spanish by way of immersive simulation. Virtual travel experiences teach you the vocabulary and grammar necessary for real-world interactions. So before you book a flight to a foreign destination, grab your controller.


Domino’s – Never again will you need to save and switch off when you’re starving, because now you can order your favourite pizzas from your Xbox – Yes a Domino’s from your console! But it gets even better thanks to the Domino’s Pizza Tracker, waiting for the doorbell won’t distract your gaming or movie watching. That’s because you can see exactly when your pizza’s going to arrive, thanks to the little device sat at the edge of your screen.

ea access

EA Access – Bringing you great games for a great price with The Vault, an evolving collection of EA games for Xbox One and download and play at any time. This is one of the most popular apps out there, it’s pretty clear to see why.


ESL – Here is a first of its kind ESL Xbox One eSports app, which not only allows players from Europe and North America to connect and compete against each other but also means that the next generation of console players will no longer need extra devices and browsers in order to compete.


Eurosport Player –  A pan-European multi-screen subscription service. Sports fans can enjoy simulcast streaming of all Eurosport’s live action with additional bonus feeds from Grand Slam tennis tournaments, among other events and a catch up option from wide range of selected sports.


Films & TV – Rent or buy the latest hit films and advert-free TV programmes from Microsoft, and watch them using the Films & TV app, at home or on the go. With a huge catalogue of entertainment content, you’ll find something great to watch.


Forza Hub – Available now as a free download exclusively for Xbox One, Forza Hub is your all-in-one app for everything happening in the world of Forza.


GoPro Channel – Watch the latest GoPro videos, and experience life as captured by the world’s most versatile camera. From skydiving to scuba diving, surfing to snowboarding, music to motorsports and beyond—whatever your passion, you’ll find it here. Come along for the ride, and get the gear you need to capture and share your own life with GoPro.

Groove Music – Here you can stream more songs than you know what to do with on your Xbox One. Build your library and enjoy it, also if the song has a video then it will be played automatically.
