People Are Still Using Kinect Peripheral

The Kinect is a controversial feature of the Xbox One, some people love it while others hate it. At launch it was a mandatory peripheral but soon became an extra that gamers could choose to have or not. According to Microsoft however “the vast majority” of people are still using it.

“I can say that the people with Kinect still make up a very, very sizable portion and that those people do use it quiet frequently. Less for games, but a lot more for biometric sign-in and user interface.” said Mike Nichols, chief marketing officer for Xbox.kinect

Nichols declined to give any hard figures but it is clear to see that the Kinect has become a divisive issue for Microsoft but apparently not one they are new to. “It’s not unlike the situation with Xbox 360, when we added Kinect and you had to design for with and without systems, that same part of the decision trees exists now.”

The popularity of the Kinect will always we open for debate but currently of all the Xbox One bundles available only two include the Kinect.

  1. @XboxOne @Microsoft I use mine every day. Not for gaming, and haven’t since the launch titles, but for menu navigation.

  2. @XboxOne @Microsoft I use mine all the time. Wish there were a few more games using it.

  3. @XboxOne @Microsoft I use my Kinect I wish more games would use it like tomb raider does. Use voice commands for opening the map.
