PAYDAY 2 Devs promise matchmaking update

“We know you guys are having issues … it’s frustrating for us but it’s obviously even more frustrating for you.” Almir Listo, Producer at Overkill, has taken to video format to address Xbox One fans of PAYDAY 2 who’re experiencing issues with the game, stating how as a team they understand how the situation is annoying – especially with the matchmaking. In the short video he apologies, and states that there should be updates by no later than the end of the year.

The video is also accompanied by a subreddit post which expands on what Listo states in the video.

“We’re sorry. Like I say in the video, I want to apologize on behalf of the rest of our team. We want to apologize for our lack of communication with the status on both platforms (Xbox 1 and PS4) … We are working on improving the way we communicate to you regarding future content.”

Overkill are now working on a full remake of the current Xbox One matchmaking system. “Our ambition is to go live with the new matchmaking system and additional fixes within the coming weeks, and no later than the end of the year. Does that mean that we want to release it on 31st of December? Absolutely not, we want to get it done ASAP.”

They are also reviewing how much first update/DLC content console players will receive: “Our ambition is that you will get all the content that the PC version has, but because we have to make builds and submit them to each platform, we have to do a cut-off at some point.”

It’s refreshing to see a developer put their hand up and admit to problems, hopefully stopping fans from feeling forgotten.
