IGN sat down at Gamescom 2015 and let Game Director of Assassin’s Creed: Syndicate, Scott Phillips share some news and thoughts on the upcoming game.

He described how they wanted to tell the story from two different sides, and that’s where the twins come in. Both equipped with different skill-sets to handle the story and gameplay in two different ways. Evie being the stealthy more “assassin like” of the two, mostly sticking to the shadows, while Jacob is more of a direct combat, rush in, kind of guy. This is reflected in their differing abilities. This was, according to Scott, something they felt very excited about bringing into the game, and I must say I agree with him.
They also showed off the new “chameleon skill” that lets Evie hide in plain sight, making her almost invisible as long as the enemy don’t walk straight up to her. Personally I have a problem with this one. Assassin’s Creed has always, for me, been about finding the stealthiest way around my target, but with this is feels like they’re making it a lot easier than before. Sure, it’s a high level skill, meaning it will take time to get it, but still for me, it’s taking it a step too far.
They also focused on the overview look, giving the players more information about different approaches to targets, like they did in AC: Unity, and I must say I strongly liked that addition, so seeing it again and even better in Syndicate makes me excited.
They also worked hard on the open world, with taking over London with your gang and causing chaos to your enemies and such. Also there’s now the vehicles that you can drive around town with,
namely the horse and carriage.
All in all, the game looks good to me so far, a small problem with the whole invisibility thing, but apart from that I’m excited seeing as the AC games are some of my personal favourites.
