Quantum Break, in development at Finnish studio Remedy Entertainment, was originally scheduled to launch this year; But in April, Microsoft announced that it was moving the game to 2016.
Microsoft head of publishing Shannon Loftis said at the time that the company already has the “strongest games lineup in Xbox history” for this year with games like Halo 5: Guardians, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Fable Legends, Forza Motorsport 6, and Gears of War: Ultimate Edition.
“With so many games launching this year, moving Quantum Break to 2016 extends our incredible portfolio into next year with a monster new IP,” Loftis explained at the time.
Quantum Break is not just a game on its own, as it will be accompanied by a live-action TV show. This remains in development despite the closure of Xbox Entertainment Studios last year.
Remedy has previously described Quantum Break as the “ultimate Remedy game.” The studio also created the Max Payne and Alan Wake franchises.
Microsoft’s Gamescom briefing is slated for tomorrow (August 5th), starting at 3pm GMT.
