Could Resident Evil 2 be headed for a REmake?

Today, Yoshiaki Hirabayashi, producer of the recent Resident Evil REmake, announced on Facebook (on Resident Evils Official page no less) that he has pitched a remaster of popular PlayStation game Resident Evil 2 to the board members of Capcom Japan.

He said  ““Hello RE fans! This is H [Hirabayashi] again!” Hirabayashi said in a post on the official Resident Evil Facebook page.

“Right after the RE HD Remaster project was finished, I actually started putting together my ideas for this ‘RE2 Project’. So, I just brushed it up and went to see my boss to present the basic concept of the project already…(Biohazard is of course the Japanese Name for Resident Evil)

Exciting news! As a big Resident Evil fan myself, just hearing that Capcom are interested and that they’re listening to fan feedback is really interesting yet scary news. The REmake re-release on Xbox One and Xbox 360 earlier this year did very well and was met with critacal acclaim. Capcom also re-released RE4 and Code Veronica: X on Xbox 360 last year.

Would you be excited for more RE2? I know I am.
