The ‘Heroic Legend of Arslan’, a novella written in the 1980s, has been transformed into both manga and anime, and Europe will now see a video game adaptation in “early 2016”.
The ‘Heroic Legend of Arslan’ tells the tale of the titular Arslan, a young crown prince of Pars, who’s expelled from his kingdom when his king father is defeated and conquered. Arslan rounds up his few companions in a bid to re-assemble an army to fight back and ultimately retake the crown and free the lands. You can tick off ‘reaching emotional maturity’ on your check-list of necessary character development, and if that wasn’t enough of a heavy subject to explore the series also tackles issues of slavery, religious fanaticism, betrayal, and humanity.
Developed by Koei Tecmo Europe, Arslan: The Warriors of Legend promises to blend the fast paced tactical action fans of the Warriors franchise will be familiar with, as well as a compelling narrative. Character designs will be based on the anime series, utilising cell-shaded graphics.
Start counting down to early 2016 now.
