Why Does Halo 5 Not Have Splitscreen Multiplayer?
In a press release on their official website 343 Studios have revealed the reason for the removal of split screen multiplayer in the upcoming title Halo 5 Guardians.
In the statement 343 studio head Josh Holmes explains why it was such a tough decision to make but that it was necessary for the overall quality of the game experience. Holmes states that split screen was removed in order to give the developers the chance to focus more on the scale and fidelity of other aspects of the game and avoided them spending time on the problems and eccentricities that come with developing a split screen multiplayer mode.
Holmes also stated that the studio regrets any upset they may have caused fans in the following message ‘The decision to remove split-screen support from Halo 5: Guardians was one of the most difficult ones we’ve ever had to make as a studio,” wrote 343’s studio head Josh Holmes. “We know that for many of our fans, Halo has meant playing together with friends in the same room. We all have great memories of past Halo split-screen multiplayer matches’
Halo 5 Guardians will be focusing on delivering a more well balanced online multiplayer experience both Co-Op and Competitive rather than a couch based multiplayer experience which seems to be the way the gaming industry is going nowadays.
So are you guys unhappy to see the removal of Split Screen multiplayer or do you feel that 343 are doing the best for the series on a whole?
