Yesterday was a busy day for the award-winning studios responsible for the critically-acclaimed Deus Ex franchise. In advance of the highly anticipated early 2016 release of Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Square Enix and Eidos Montreal announced details of a Collectors Edition that, in typical Deus Ex fashion, will be influenced user-choice via a vote currently being hosted on the official website. Options being made available include a statue of key protagonist, Adam Jensen, as well as a replica combat rifle, mini art-book, an ‘augmentation’ lunchbox and a steelbox case for the game itself. Voting is open until July 3rd.
In addition to looking forward, the studio also announced a celebration of the 15 years of the franchise by unveiling a four part documentary tracking its rise from the 2000 Deus Ex PC origins to the forthcoming multi-platform Mankind Divided. Part one of “DX15” is currently being hosted on the IGN website (and below), featuring critical insight from game creators Warren Spector, Chris Norden and Sheldon Pacotti.
Finally, the studios announced a partnership with charity GameChanger, who benefit sick children suffering from life-threatening diseases by reselling donated hardware, software, digital content, merchandise and collector’s items. Again, in typical Deus Ex fashion, donors can select how GameChanger will use the funds and all donations over $1 will see the donor eligible to receive a copy of Deus Ex: Human Revolution for the PC.
