Independent developer Brushfire Games have announced that their physics based arcade shooter Polychromatic will be released on Xbox One via ID@Xbox in the summer of this year.
Polychromatic is a twin stick based shooter of classic game design with wave progression and increasing number of enemies. This keeps the game in line with the genre while its physics based flat geometry gives it an original feel.
“We really wanted to make a game that could capture the feeling of the classic arcade shooters without just being the ‘Same Old Thing’,” said Nick Gravelyn. “For example, the physics driven gameplay is quite unique and adds a level of unpredictability to the game. While other games in this genre emphasize memorization, Polychromatic requires adaptation and quick reaction to succeed.”
“Competition between friends is a huge part of these games so we’ve also tried to build that directly into the game with friend leaderboards and target scores,” added Joe Gravelyn. “When you finish a game you can easily see the scores you passed and those you can try to beat next. This creates a friendly and engaging way for gamers to show who’s best.”
Polychromatic has three different game modes, leaderboards and achievements to keep gamers busy.
