Time to get Testing – Portal to be in Lego Dimensions?

The odds aren’t a million to one with generous rounding, as a recent Walmart listing – now taken down from the site but accessible via a cached image – gives a listing for a Portal Level Dimensions Pack. Listings for The Simpsons, Jurassic Park and Scooby Doo have also appeared over the past few days, with the cached images available courtesy of Brick Inquirer.

While Valve – the creators of Portal – and Lego have never teamed up before, the idea of a Lego version of Portal isn’t something new: a submission to Lego Ideas saw the required 10,000 supporters to put the plans forward to be approved by Lego, however the project was not approved.

This doesn’t take away any veracity from the Walmart listing, though, as the same scenario occurred with Wizard of Oz. Again, it reached 10,000 supporters on Lego Ideas to eventually not be approved, but is now confirmed for Lego Dimensions.

There’s a difference in the pack listings to take note of. Portal and The Simpsons are under “Level Packs”, which consist of one character, two vehicles and one game level. The only confirmed listing for a Level Pack so far is Back to the Future. Meanwhile, Jurassic Park and Scooby Doo are listed under “Team Packs”, featuring two characters and two vehicles. Ninjago is the only Team Pack currently available. Finally, the Walmart listings also showed three “Fun Packs” for Cragger, Eris and Laval, all from Lego’s Chima franchise. Fun Packs contain one character and one vehicle; confirmed so far are Legolas, Gimli and Gollum from Lord of the Rings; Nya, Jay and Zane from Ninjago; Emmet, Bad Cop, Benny and Unikitty from Lego Movie; Wonder Woman and Cyborg from DC; and the Wicked Witch of the West from Wizard of Oz.
